AI model misuse refers to using an AI system in a way its provider or organization did not intend or authorize, whether by an outside attacker or an employee circumventing internal policy.
Why It Matters
Misuse doesn’t require a technical exploit, it can be as simple as an employee using an internal AI tool to generate content it was never approved for, or an outsider using a public-facing chatbot to extract information it shouldn’t reveal.

An employee uses a company’s internal AI coding assistant, approved only for drafting code, to generate a legal contract, a use case outside its intended scope and review process.
